Frequently Asked Questions

Short answers about Accountability Demon, the Frog, and your Accountability Partner.

What is Accountability Demon?

Accountability Demon is a daily accountability app built around one simple idea: One Frog. One Promise. One Day. You name one important task each day, and your Demon or Muse helps you follow through until it is done. Over time, the app discovers patterns in your behaviour and reveals what helps you succeed.

What is a Frog?

Your Frog is the one important task you have been avoiding. Give it a name, make your promise, and banish it when the work is done. You may do many other things in a day, but your Frog is the commitment that matters most.

How does the daily ritual work?

It has three steps. Name Your Frog. Choose the one important task you have been avoiding. Make Your Promise. Commit to finishing it, and define what finished looks like. Banish Your Frog. Do the work, finish before midnight, and record your win.

What happens if I miss a day?

An unfinished Frog goes to Purgatory. It gets its own place, so today can begin clear instead of carrying yesterday's unfinished work forward until the list becomes noise. In Purgatory, you can finish it late or deliberately release it. The record stays honest, and a missed day does not erase what you have already done.

Who are the Demon and the Muse?

They are your two Accountability Partners. Both witness the same promise; only their approach changes. The Demon is direct, persistent, and unimpressed by excuses, for those who need a firm voice. The Muse is patient, thoughtful, and steadfast, for those who respond better to encouragement.

What are Tormentor Mode and Devotion Mode?

They are optional, experimental versions of the Demon and the Muse for people who explicitly opt into a more intense style. Tormentor Mode is relentless and confrontational. Devotion Mode is exaggerated, immersive affirmation. Neither is recommended for regular use, both can be disabled at any time, and neither is intended to provide mental health support.

How does my partner learn about me?

At first, your Accountability Partner knows only today's promise. As days become evidence, it notices when you follow through, when you stall, which reminders help, and how you recover. After 7 days it begins noticing patterns. After 30 days it adapts how and when it intervenes. Its guidance becomes more personal because it is grounded in your patterns, not generic advice.

Is this just another to-do list?

No. A to-do list organises what you need to do. Accountability Demon is about execution: one meaningful commitment, deliberately made and completed within a day. Knowing what matters does not guarantee that you will act on it, and that gap is what the ritual is for.

Is Accountability Demon a replacement for mental health support?

No. It is not intended to provide mental health support or to replace real-world relationships. If you need support with your mental health, please speak to a qualified professional.
